The Department of Outreach & Training (DOT)

Professional Expertise Built Into Our Model

At CHOICE, consumer success is not left to chance.

Our Department of Outreach & Training (DOT) is a dedicated internal department designed to strengthen employment outcomes through structured training, employer collaboration, and stability-focused intervention.

DOT is not an add-on service.
It is built directly into our programming.

Our DOT team is made up of professionals with degrees in:

  • Psychology

  • Social Work

  • Sociology

  • Human Development & Family Studies

This diverse educational background allows the team to understand employment success beyond tasks alone. They examine communication dynamics, emotional regulation, workplace culture, behavioral patterns, and long-term independence progression.

DOT ensures that employment support is professional, structured, and intentional.

How DOT Supports Consumer-Based Success

Individualized Skill Development

When a consumer needs targeted growth, DOT develops structured, workplace-relevant training that may include:

  • Professional communication

  • Emotional regulation

  • Workplace boundaries

  • Safety and task accuracy

  • Customer interaction skills

  • Conflict navigation

  • Problem-solving strategies

Under our Adaptive Stability Employment Model™ (ASEM™), training is stability-focused not reactive. We address patterns before they impact retention.

Employer & Natural Support Education

Workplace success requires partnership.

DOT collaborates with employers to:

  • Clarify communication strategies

  • Reinforce professional expectations

  • Strengthen natural coworker supports

  • Proactively address concerns

This improves workplace confidence and increases long-term retention.

Employment Readiness & Career Preparation

Before placement, DOT may provide:

  • Career exploration sessions

  • Workplace professionalism training

  • Scenario-based learning

  • Social awareness development

  • My Work Story (MWS) creation

Consumers remain intricately involved in choosing their path. DOT strengthens readiness so that employment begins with confidence and clarity.

Stability Intervention & Growth Planning

When new challenges arise, DOT works alongside Job Coaches and leadership to:

  • Identify root causes

  • Develop targeted interventions

  • Provide structured retraining

  • Reinforce workplace standards

  • Restore stability quickly

This prevents small issues from becoming job loss.

Why This Matters

Many Supported Employment providers rely solely on on-shift coaching.

CHOICE integrates professional-level training expertise directly into service delivery.

Our Department of Outreach & Training ensures:

  • Skill development is structured

  • Consumer growth is intentional

  • Employers feel supported

  • Independence increases over time

  • Retention becomes measurable

DOT makes stability systematic not accidental.
